Welcome.

The small museum in Capovalle houses artifacts from the First and Second World Wars.

In the 1990s, Lombardi Giuseppe (Peppino) worked to create a museum on Monte Stino. One of the tunnels was adopted as the museum’s location and soon became a destination of interest for many visitors. Various acts of looting forced Peppino to move the artifacts to a safer place. In order to better preserve the artifacts from the Great War, including uniforms, weapons, tools, and supplies, the municipality set up a small museum in the village. The tour is completed by the remains of the emplacements and trenches located on Monte Stino. The very evocative route, just a few minutes’ drive from the village, features tunnels and trenches set up to control Lake Idro.

Our findings

The exhibits on display are from the First and Second World Wars. On Monte Stino, Manòs, and Carzen, trenches and walkways dating back to the Great War are still visible.

About us

Years of collecting, cataloging, and organizing artifacts provided by fellow citizens and others led to the creation of a site to “present” the artifacts at the Monte Stino observation point. Then, with the establishment of the museum association and the availability of premises provided by the municipality, we now have a place to welcome you and present the artifacts through our members. Our mission is to tell you the story of our places through each individual object. All this is offered free of charge; of course, a donation is always useful to help us continue :). Thank you.

Work in progress

This article is usually written to communicate changes to the website. In this case, however, it concerns the museum’s location. We are closed… sigh… for the whole of 2025 due to renovation work on the building. We will return more beautiful and welcoming than before, but for now we are sorry we cannot welcome you.
